I use a sketchbook to quickly preserve ideas for later use. A new project often comes from this "dream catcher".

Hand Sketch Examples.

I start new projects with more detailed hand sketches which go through many adjustments before being used as guidelines for the final composition.

Templates.

I draw outlines to help establish perspective. All details are painted by hand using pixels instead of paint. We see the world with light., so painting dark worlds with light is my preferred medium.
